she prompted female runner-bloggers everywhere to post their best and worst race shirts. i have already donated my worst race shirt (it was that bad) but i did create a rendition. i call this the britney spears:
the britney spears
toted as a "women's small", this particular shirt stopped about halfway between my boobs and my belly button. not attractive.
the medical tent
this wasn't the race organizers fault technically... i registered for this race on race-day, so i had slim pickin's for my shirt. i would just like to ask race organizers what kind of half-marathon-trail-runners need a tent for a shirt. i like the logo, too bad i couldn't get a smaller size.
perfection
Love it--the Britney Spears! And I have that 2006 Balt. marathon shirt (the 1/2 version) and it is one of my all-time faves. They have since changed the cut and it's not as good anymore, but still nice. As much money as we all spend on race fees, a well-fitting shirt would be nice!
ReplyDeleteThat underarmour shirt is a nice one! I have very few that I really like. Mostly due to the size. I actually prefer cotton ones because they tend to actually fit. With the tech shirts if they are unisex they are too big and if they are women's size you just never know and sometimes you end up with a Britney Spears shirt. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, why are the water bottles still int he cages???????? All my shirts fit perfect....... HA
ReplyDeleteI have a Brit shirt as well...and it was labelled a MEDIUM. I feel like a big cow in it.
ReplyDeleteI would have LOVED to see the "Britney Spears"!
ReplyDeleteAnd I do have that Camp Croft shirt in small and while it's not quite tent like, it's still a men's shirt and the short sleeves are almost down to my elbows! ;-)
I tend to enjoy the slightly "off" sized shirts, I usually go up a size because of my KB arms! AKA: Hulk!
ReplyDeleteThat last shirt looks great on you-I'd be in the "tent" one!
Your stick person needs to eat some sugar or something, too skinny!
ReplyDeleteAs always, your paint skillz rock! Thanks for posting about this, I'll def get you linked up!
ReplyDeleteI never wear my race shirts. Even the Boston marathon shirts, too short!
ReplyDeleteI just went to that girl's blog and commented. All my race shirts are too long unless I get a kid's size, then the sleeves are too short. But mostly, I hate when the shirt is the same every year. One race here has had the same one, there's no date or anything on it, for the past THREE years. There's a good reason why I'm NOT doing it this Saturday.
ReplyDeleteLove your paint stick person. And that Baltimore marathon race shirt is pretty awesome :).
I looove my shirt from the 2006 baltimore marathon too! It fits so so well. My shirt from the Baltimore half marathon fits well too. Those Under Armour people know what's up.
ReplyDeleteThe Brittany Spears.....hilarious!
ReplyDeleteRace shirts are so tough! I usually need a women's cut XS, so unless it's a half marathon that's geared toward women, it usually is swimming on me.
ReplyDeleteI can rarely get a women's shirt. I am a little over 5'7" and almost all race shirts for women are too short. They usually barely hit my shorts, if at all. Because most are "women's cut" they are fitted, meaning going up to a medium or large for length looks silly (because it's fitten but huge), so I often resort to a men's small, which means I'm running in big, boxy parachutes.
ReplyDeleteI NEVER get women's shirts because I can't stand having shirts that are too short for my torso...I feel the same way about sleeves not being long enough too. Drives me nuts!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is sooooo true!! You go out, you run hard, and then you get a shirt you can never flipping wear! I have a Britney one too. I'm pretty small on top, and it's a women's small and it's the tiniest thing I've ever seen. It's so hard to figure it out. I usually just order a "medium" for every race, but that can be all over the board. with sizing. I was so disappointed when I got my Disney Marathon shirt in a medium and it's freaking huge! I do 1 marathon, and my race shirt looks like a tent :(
ReplyDeleteHere in Spain we have the same problem!! I will try to do a post related with the t-shirt sizes :-)
ReplyDeleteThe second one is indeed very unflattering. I like the third one best, though it could have done with a bit more cleavage to my liking.
ReplyDeleteMom's Home Run
I've never understood why races order so many XL shirts. Sure, get a few of them, but the XLs should never be the size that is left over at the end.
ReplyDeleteWhat I really detest is if they don't even tell you if there are men's or women's sizes. Somehow for the Soldier Field 10-miler I got an enormous men's shirt only to learn later that there was a fairly cute women's version. WTH?
ReplyDeleteGo Britney!
I'm hoping to post a similar one soon. I love the baltimore marathon race shirts, I wish I could say the same for the baltimore marathon ;)
