i know i am starting to sound like a broken record, but i really do need to tighten up my eating habits. i have hereby proclaimed the month of november to be sugar-free. that's right, we're taking this one step further from february and eliminating all sweets. part of my problem in february was that i said "no m&m's" but proceeded to increase my intake of every other form of chocolate.
*most* of the m&m's consumed at work in aug-oct... this does not include the bags eaten at home. (ridic, i know) |
what are you saying 'no' to in november?
(in line with the past few months) - november goals:
30-min everyday
bike: 90mi (let's see if i can hit it this month)
tempo runs: 4mi, 5mi, extra credit for 6mi
speed work: 6x800, 3x1600
long runs: 12mi, 13mi
abs: 15x
yoga: 5x
weights: 7x
Girl, you have MUCH more willpower then me! Even Thanksgiving? Impressive. I am in dire need of a sugar intervention... I am trying the cut back approach. Less of a "no" and more of a "maybe".
ReplyDeleteOkay, as soon as all the Halloween candy is gone.........
ReplyDeleteOMG you are so brave! I would love to say no to sweets but I don't think I have it in me. For me one piece of chocolate opens the floodgate to tons more. Ugh. I'll try to get on this with you, but I will have t'giving dessert...probably...
ReplyDeleteYou are a brave (crazy?) woman! Good luck!!! I've overhauled my diet... not necessarily eliminating anything b/c I've learned the hard way that I just end up over-compensating in other "areas"... working on moderation over here this month! Also tracking calories for the first time in a while.
ReplyDeleteC'mon Lindsay, you can!
ReplyDeleteeven thanksgiving?! wow. no way i'm participating. i'm on a cookie baking frenzey hahah. i'll take all your sweets please :)
ReplyDeleteNote to all M&Ms stock holders - SELL SELL SELL!!!! :) Hopefully this isn't considered insider information.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to give up on my old heel and getting a new one. :)
ReplyDeleteI do the no sugar thing the month before a marathon and it always seems to work because I know there's a purpose behind it that will make me run better. Maybe you need a marathon in December!! :)
No m&m's? Again? You have a lot more will-power than me!
ReplyDeleteI have this big no junk food policy leading up to races. Usually about 3-6 weeks out. Good luck in your endeavors my dear!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather Just Say Yo!
ReplyDeleteYou are braver than I am!!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYikes. No sweets. As a certified ferocious sweet-tooth, I obviously can't support this in any way. But best of luck on your food quest! Your fitness goals for November look pretty sa-weet all by themselves! :-)
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is how selfless I am... I will stop by your house and take all the sugar off your hands, so you don't have any temptations in the house anymore... sound good? ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat's a brave goal. Good luck with it!
Hey! You just became my 100th follower on my blog and I just became the 200th follower on your blog! Sweet!
ReplyDeleteKevin @ Ironmanbythirty just shot me an email about a bike you are looking at. I will respond to that later today, but in the mean time since you are #100 on my blog, you get a prize! Shoot me an email to campbell.jon@gmail.com
So, are you going just no sweet, or no sugar at all? What about fruit and things like that? You are tough either way!
ReplyDeleteno here's what matters, are they the 'sharing' size bags or the personal size bags, because that really makes a difference in your addiction ;)
ReplyDeletegood luck on no sweets. i contemplated it but then figured itd just end up eating NOTHING for a month.
This is a noble pursuit, Linday! I'm saying "NO!" to mid-mileage trail Saturdays so that I can qualify for Bean Town in December.
ReplyDeleteM&Ms are not on my "NO!" list; it's differentiated.
Also, I think you broke my question by wanting both elite status and middle class wealth. It's an either/or hypothetical...
Okay, currently I am sitting here reading blogs....eating Cheez-its!!! Oh damn it anyway....I better go get an apple or a rice cake:) You will inspire me to say "no" too! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you have the bags. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteWow. This is commitment!
ReplyDeleteI did the whole no cake/cookies/candy/ice cream/lattes thing a few years ago. I lasted about eight weeks. I did however consume pop tarts, lots of pop tarts. Not having candy is the hardest. My favorite thing to do when I get home is reach for a handful of M&M's.
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but I'm saying NO to running for November. It helps that I'm forced too!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, it's hard. Life is hard, you can do what you really, really want to do-after all, look at me....no diet dew!!!
I am trying really hard to eat better in November too, I like the whole giving up sugar idea. Hmmmmm... Might have to try that!
ReplyDeleteI am just having trouble getting my food intake back to a NORMAL amount after my last marathon training cycle. I am still eating like I'm training for a marathon but I'm certainly not exercising enough to burn it all off!
Good luck! I just bought a giant bag of M&Ms in the post-Halloween sale. I will think of you when I eat them. :)
ReplyDeleteHoo boy! No sugar!? I'm impressed. And very, very interested to hear how it goes, as I've got a major sweet tooth. My goal this month is simply to avoid stuffing myself ... which seems easy enough, except that we all know what happens when willpower and common sense meet an extra pieces of pumpkin pie.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about your habit-breaking attempts back in February, but I do know your story here sounds very familiar.
ReplyDeleteWould you believe I intentionally use Sugar instead of Splenda? I just use much less than I would prefer. When I found that 1 packet of Splenda had 4 calories (i think because Splenda itself is sooo small that they pack it in some type of sugary stuff), I figured I would rather get some natural calories than mad scientist calories.
The best advice I've seen lately, which I'm still working on, is: Don't eat stuff you KNOW you shouldn't eat. It's a nice first step.
Good luck!
Looks like I have 37 days until Huntsville so I better give up several things. Got to get in the zone and drop a few before 26.2. Race weight, here I come, I hope.
ReplyDeleteI am very impressed! What will I say no to? Right now I can't imagine what I am willing to give up. It would be easier to answer what would I say yes to!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the no sugar/sweets challenge! All those M&Ms look so tempting though...
ReplyDeleteAmy Lauren
I have been such a sucker for the leftover Halloween candy and hating myself more and more with each bite! I will join you...as long as I can take Thanksgiving off!
ReplyDeleteNo Sugar?!?
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!!!! I like that "NO-Vember"
I've already slacked on that. Today was NOT a good day. It's all the kids' Halloween candy laying around...oh, and some other lame excuse I have about feeling edgy about waiting for a baby to show up.
I CAN NOT wait to run again, Lindsey!!!
Thanks for checking up on me!
You can do it! Perfect lead up to a marathon in December!!! :) hint hint...I have already alerted the p-units of the no-sugar Thanksgiving request in hopes that continuous reminder will actually make it happen! :) You may just motivate me to join you...which would be extremely hard where I work...
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely perfect for november; november goals:30-min everydaybike: 90mi (let's see if i can hit it this month)tempo runs: 4mi, 5mi, extra credit for 6mispeed work: 6x800, 3x1600long runs: 12mi, 13miabs: 15xyoga: 5xweights: 7x

You are a better person than yours truly! What I am saying "No" to is running! But only because I have to thanks to the lingering Plantar Fasciitis! And except for the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning!
ReplyDeleteNo running is rough, but sugar withdrawals are rougher! You go girl!!!
Good luck! I really enjoyed being sugar-free. After a while you stop getting cravings altogether. Maybe I'll try it again...after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should just start with not waking up at 4am and venturing into the kitchen. I really don't eat much chocolate but everything else adds up. As long as I lose a good 2 pounds a month I am good. I have patience. As far as saying NO to anything in November, I would have to say no to cheesy fries from Sheetz! lol
ReplyDeleteI would seriously join in the "no sweets" except that I have marionberries in my freezer that are going into a Thanksgiving pie or cobbler...I can't say no to my own dessert!
ReplyDeleteWhat, you are buying a bike and I don't know about it?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, that is awesome. We need to get you in a pool and then you'll become a triathlete. Tada!!!
Good luck with the no sugar for a month policy (are your SURE???? Not even 1 mini candy bar/day?). I think if you make it a month with none, it will be easy to never go back.
I hope this behavior doesn't carry over to January. I'm really expecting you to have plenty of M&M's on the Ragnar trip.
ReplyDeleteHey Lindsay! I'm not saying "no" to anything, I'm saying "mo"! I am participating in Movember this year. If you haven't heard of it, its a movement that raises awareness for cancers affecting men through moustaches. You start November 1st clean shaven and grow a moustache for 30 days. Think of it as changing the face of men's health! You can check out our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/TheTexasStaches. I don't think Isis is liking the moustache as much as I am though ;)
