keep your chin up

do not fear my friends, i have not died of m&m overdosing.

the ceremonial ribbon cutting

a dorky video of me eating my 1st m&m
i was so nervous to break the streak

it's been one week of being back on crack (m&m's) and man, it's a little hard to stop!

i "only" ate the 19oz bag of plain m&m's (and shared some too) over the weekend. at work earlier this week i ate the rest of the 56oz bag that has been sitting in my desk drawer since last september when i stopped eating them (there weren't that many left). one year old m&m's still taste alright, for the record.

i've made a deal with myself that i can only eat m&m's when i'm traveling on a trip (further than an hour away), when someone else buys them as a legit gift (not a shady under the table deal just to get a fix) or if it's truly a life or death situation (like if i'm lost in the woods and all i can find are m&m's to hold me over until i'm rescued). i hope this will keep me from falling back into my bad habits of eating a 12oz bag daily...

in other news -- (because there is more to life than m&m's lindsay)

i did my first real chin-up! no weight assistance, no stretchy band - just me and the bar. i actually did about 2.5. i feel so accomplished.

  1. Way to go on your chin up! I like how you're allowing yourself M&Ms sometimes, at least that will help you mentally deal with having to detox from them again. Now I want some M&Ms though, hehe.

  2. You are too funny with your M&Ms!! I'm so impressed with your chin ups! I can't do one to save my life!!!...well maybe if there was an animal below me and I absolutely had to!

    1. The 2 weren't pretty. The "0.5" I count because my chin was almost to the bar? And by almost I mean at least I tried / my arms were in fact bent and not just attempting to flex.

  4. You crack me up. That video is hilarious!! I'm glad you are allowing yourself to eat them in life or death situations. You never know when someone will put a gun to your head and tell you to eat M&Ms or else.

  5. fantastic vblog of your "falling off the wagon" and re-introduction to your crack addition. Fantastic! I can totally relate. I'm now on 85% dark chocolate, which I tell myself (fool myself) into thinking it's good for me. :) :)

    1. Dark chocolate is so good once you acquire the taste for it. (Dark choco m&m's are still not quite the same as a real bar of dark chocolate though). I'm sure webmd has an article about how it's good for you!

  6. I'm quite a sucker for M&M's myself. Here in SA we only get the normal ones and the peanut ones. I've been craving and eating chocolate for a long time now. I need to get over this soon. Have a great weekend!

  7. If your skin starts itching again, I'm not going to bring out my mom skills and start lecturing. You will just have to live with your torture in silence!

Poor Johann, no coconut M&Ms - so shameful!

I can hang on the pull up bar....for about 5 seconds. Great job on the pullups! :)

  12. Hmm...I think someone might just need a bag of the Fall colored M&M's. You know, they taste better dressed in Fall colors!

  14. Next video posting should be of the chin-up! Congrats....I hope to never have to "hang" again! LOL

I've just seen a new flavor of M&M.....candy corn, not sure if I'm going to try, not a fan of candy corn and since they use FAKE coconut in the coconut ones, who knows what's in the candy corn!

  15. I love that you actually saved the m&ms for a year! Impressed with the chin up. I have had a fear if them ever since PE in 6th grade (couldn't do them then either and have apparently been scarred for life - ha)

  16. yay for unassisted chin ups!

m&m's are dangerous - tho I was sad to see one of my co-workers leave - she also kept the m&m dilbert machine filled. Thankfully no one else has kept up that particular tradition.

  17. WOA, great job on the chin up. I'm still working on mine.

  18. I wonder if you can find a correlation between eating M&Ms and doing chinups. Maybe if you eat more M&Ms you'll be able to do more chinups???

  19. You are too funny!! Congrats on the pull ups!!

  20. I just had a (healthy) salad... But now I want M&M's... I don't blame you... I just don't have any willpower.

    Congrats on the chin ups!!

  21. I am glad that you didn't die of an M&M overdose, but I also don't think that would be a bad way to go!

    Way to rock the chin-ups!
