after not sleeping well tuesday night, i woke wednesday morning not quite in the mood to run. however i also knew that i would be in a bad mood all day if i did not go running and that i'd probably be too lazy in the hot afternoon heat to run later. so begrudgingly, out the door i went. i made it maybe a mile and a quarter before telling myself i should just turn around and rest. i turned around, and made it about 6-7 houses before telling myself i really needed to suck it up and run. i turned back around, and htfu'd my way through (almost) 7 miles. i wonder if anyone saw my indecisive running.
the run actually went well - i found my old easy pace and hopefully reminded myself that i can, in fact, run better than i have been.
wednesday (6/30) am run: 6.91 miles, 1:01:34 (avg pace 8:55), 80*/86% humidity

I contemplate quitting just about all of my runs during the first 1/4 mile. I've learned to not listen to my body in that regards.

Lindsay - I have indecisive running in the morning too! I almost always find some excuse to want to turn back in the first 0.25 mile and have to convince myself to suck it up and run! Glad you pushed through and got the grove back!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you went back and forth so much like that. At least the final outcome was the run that you intended to have. I think all runners go through that internal debate of whether or not it's 'necessary' to run.

ReplyDeleteI just read your wedding post below and it made me laugh- why do men do so little? haha- actually interestingly my dad has been a huge help in the wedding process- he is all business and he just gets it all done. Totally agree with you about the registry. It would be more fun if it did not involve things like towels haha. I could deal with registering for a shiny new computer, and ipod touch...you know, fun stuff! haha
Hey! What kind of roller do you have? I'm not familiar with these things. BTW, when are you going to run a marathon in WV? I would love to run it with you, but due to my injury it might be another year before I can run one at your pace! I plan on running the Marshall Marathon this fall just to get one under my belt if I stay healthy.

ReplyDeleteI've done that turnaround thing before too. And once I started heading toward the gate to leave my neighborhood, but decided I was going to go home and rest so I did the loop around my neighborhood, but then decided to run so I ran the same direction that I initially ran to get to the gate... and I know I passed the same guy in his yard a few times that day. Hopefully he didn't think too much about it quirkiness. Then again, I don't know him so who cares what he thinks about my behavior! :-)
