hello gorgeous

not long ago i was tagged a 'gorgeous blogger' by erica of run mommy run. erica is new-er to running and has quickly caught the running bug. she keeps telling me that we are going to move to belize to escape this lovely winter weather but i have a feeling that by the time she gets it all organized the weather will be warm enough to tolerate :o)

in tune with the award, here are six random things about me. hopefully six things i haven't already said before...
  1. i have not had any soda since may/june 2003.
  2. i must make my bed every morning, even on the days i sleep through my alarm and only have 10 minutes to get out the door for work. all those years of my dad hounding me before school paid off i guess.
  3. i just started drinking plain-milk this year. i've never had a glass of milk before - definitely took some getting used to.
  4. i think i might actually kind of miss living in a hotel - to an extent. i certainly got used to maid service! wait, you mean i have to pick up my crumbs? dust? clean a bathroom?
  5. we put m&m's (& reese's pieces) on our wedding registry.
  6. i have not gone shopping for jeans in 4-5 years because i don't want to be told i got fatter :)
i'm going to take my usual cop-out and say "play along if you want". you are all gorgeous people.

i've successfully hopped up and at 'em for a couple more early morning runs. wednesday i got in 5-mi of threshold goodness, although a little slow on the pace, but i'm chalking that up to my body "still adjusting" to 4:30am running. sounds like a legit excuse right? thursday i got up early again for an easy run. after working all day and driving home (to sc) thursday evening, i "slept in" friday and didn't run until about 8am. i'm seriously wondering if i am allergic to running because i practically broke out in hives on thursday's and friday's runs. i would have run further on friday but it was so uncomfortable and i just wanted to exfoliate with sandpaper; i needed to run home, pop an allergy pill, and cheerup my skin.

wednesday (3/3) am run: 8.3 miles, 1:06:38 (avg pace 8:02), avg hr (166), 28* (boo)
thursday (3/4) am run: 7.45 miles, 1:04:48 (avg pace 8:42), avg hr (150), 29*
friday (3/5) am run: 5.15 miles (w/ 3x enormous hill), 45:29 (avg pace 8:50), avg hr (155), 35*

sometimes i wonder why i am bothering with the early am running now. in less than two weeks the time will change and it will feel like 3:30am... i mean yikes. i know you are all dying to come run with me on march 15th.

i "slept in" again saturday (still woke up without an alarm before 8am) and wasn't feeling a run so i didn't. i did get out later in the afternoon and was rewarded with a sunny 59* - hello tanktop and shorts! bliss. no allergic-reaction today, whew.

saturday (3/6) afternoon run: 7.1 miles, 1:00:21 (avg pace 8:30), 59*

anyway it's been a busy but hopefully productive weekend. i took friday off from work in an attempt to *actually* do some wedding planning now that it's like 4-5 months away. master procrastinator, right here. i'm not stressing though, it'll all turn out fine.

    1. Love your list you beautiful blogger you! A registry w/chocolate on it is the best kind IMO!

    3. Horray for the sunny run AND the M & M's on the registry. Wait, how did you do that? Target? Anyway, I can't wait for the time to change since I run in the afternoon and it seems like spring is almost here! Happy Wedding Planning this weekend!

    4. Oh my gosh, M&Ms on the registry - priceless!

    5. no milk until this year??? you're crazy! I drink about a gallon a day (maybe that's why I'm starting to grow breasts... maybe I should switch to the hormone free kind).

Don't worry too much about the wedding planning. If you're too anal about it then you're bound to get upset when something inevitably doesn't go as planned. 5 months is plenty of time.

    6. I'm with ya on the bed thing. Walking back home and into a room with an unmade bed is just unsightly and...wrong.

Kudos on the soda thing. that is borderline inhuman.

    7. Hahaha its hilarious how much you love m&m's, but I'm not gonne lie, I'm pretty hooked on the peanut butter kind myself :)

    8. Congrats on the gorgeous award!! OMG, do you have will power! I can't believe you have not had any soda since 2003...you are a rock! Nice job running this week! I just have to follow your lead and add a few more miles to my daily runs. Have fun with the wedding planning:)

    9. Is the allergy cold weather urticaria? I get that and it is horrible. My legs and butt swell up and get red, and I get super itchy!
Good luck with wedding planning. If it is any consolation, we (OK, I) planned our wedding 3 months in advance and wrote our ceremony a week before. I had zero stress, and I always said that a wedding is a big party and I can have it again if I want to (and we will, for our 10th anniversary this year)..

    10. Absolutely in awe that you've had no soda since 2003.
I'm sure you've gone to the M&M website to see that you can "personalize" your M&M's??!!!
That would be cute with your names and wedding date!

    11. No soda!! I don't drink much but since 2003! I don't drink milk. I was doing all my running in the morning for awhile but I just can't do it anymore. I can pull off maybe one day a week at 5:00 am. Allergic to running...lol!!! Nice runs this week! You are so funny-I love reading your blog!

    12. I can't believe you've gone 7 years without soda! That's incredible. I don't drink it very often, but it's nice once in a while when I get sick of water.

    13. I cannot wait for Spring Forward! This week it is supposed to hit 60 dgerees here and I feel like we have hit the "no more snow" jackpot!

I have not had a glass of milk since I was a little kid, and even then it was a fight. I drink chocolate milk though because I know the calcium is needed.

    14. That is hysterical that ya'll registered for candy, love it! And way to on no soda since '03. I so need to take that plunge myself.

    15. I stopped drinking soda when I was in 8th grade and I had an after school job. The boss was late one day because of car battery problems, and when she called AAA they poured a Pepsi over the battery to remove green corrosion stuff from around the wires. I decided that shouldn't be in my body.

      ReplyDelete
    16. what made you suddenly start drinking milk?

      ReplyDelete
    17. I'm not a big soda drinker either. I actually think it's gross, but I do drink it when I'm really sick.

I hate going jeans shopping too! I think when you eventually go again that your size is smaller...even if your weight hasn't changed. I was always a size eight in Gap jeans, all through high school and college. Now I'm a size 6 sometimes a 4, and I'm the same height and weight, the sizes are changing! I've found the same issue with some other brands too. Weird...

    18. I so do NOT make my bed every day! Ha.

I think I knew that about pop, but WOW... impressive. I love me some diet coke. ;) We all have our vices.

TOOO funny about the candy on your registry. Surprised? No. Hehe.

I don't run enough in the morning to get used to it, so I am ALWAYS slow as molasses on those runs. And FYI, your 'slow' is not slow. :)

    19. You should check out the hive thingy, some people actually have an exercised induced allergic reaction...and it effects everyone different! Like I turn bright red and not just a little pink but like oh my god is all the blood in your body now in your head RED and it does not go away until 5-6 hours after I have run...My doc said it was a form of allergic reaction bodies can have to exerting themselves! ahhh sorry this is so long, great job running even early and I would totally put m&m's on a registry

      ReplyDelete
    20. Bummer about the hives. This link may help you: http://www.healthcentral.com/allergy/c/question/382324/50461
Congrats on the "Beautiful Blogger" award. I'll pass on the award because my blog isn't beautiful, and the award's too "girly" for me! M+M's on the registry is so cool. I'm still holding out for a good M+M sale myself, so right now I'm still M+M free in my house. The "spring ahead" will definitely be tough, especially for you and your early A.M. runs. But, having sunset at around 7 p.m. will be worth it. Also, I suppose it goes without saying that your runs continue to inspire me. :-)

    21. I love that you guys have m&ms on your registry! That's awesome.

Oh dear, I hope you aren't allergic to running! :(

      ReplyDelete
    22. The wedding will be here before you know it!! I will take care of getting the m&m's! Now that's cool!!!

      ReplyDelete
    23. Sigh. I'm jealous reading about your running because you feel like it. We've *really* got to get that two week training plan down....

Wow. Interesting that you just started drinking milk and aren't having problems with it. Did you know that *most* people lose their ability to effectively digest milk around age 15? Those of us who can are mutants. So there. Now you can win Jeopardy. Just remember, your answer needs to be in the form of a question....

      ReplyDelete
    24. no milk or soda, what do you drink then?! I'm still hooked on soda, need to stop..

Great job getting up for those morning runs. Funny that you think 8AM is sleeping in :) I can't wait for Daylight Savings to kick in, there will be light in the mornings and evenings too, can't decide when to run now!

      ReplyDelete
    25. You and those M&Ms. That'll never not be funny to me.

      ReplyDelete
    26. Yay on the M&Ms...I could not imagine your wedding without them! Hey, I have that crazy habit of always making my bed too.

It's cool that you are not stressing out about your wedding preparation...it will definitely turn out fabulous.

      ReplyDelete
    27. Haha, you crack me up! M&M's on your wedding registry, Love it! We're enjoying the spring like weather up there too!! Great running girl!

      ReplyDelete
    28. That is funny that you have m&Ms on your registry. I bet you'll have m&m's on the table too for the guests to eat. Yes? You can admit it.

4-5 months is eons away. I (insert and mother) planned the wedding in about two months. That last month was stressful.

I'm thinking the same thing with that time change. But how can you not...I mean 3:30? That IS crazy.

      ReplyDelete
    29. Huh. Someone at swim was telling me how she's been ending her runs in hives. What's up with THAT?

You'd hate my house. 3 unmade beds every day :D

      ReplyDelete
    30. I love that you registered for M & M & M's and Reese's :-)

      ReplyDelete
    31. Soda......hmmm to me it is either Coke or it does not exist. lol. I drink at least 8 oz. of it every day. Maybe I should lay off. lol. I dont make my bed. m&ms on your register. How cool. Great job on your runs.. I would never want to get up at 410 and run, but I might give it a try this summer. Great post. Have a good one.

      ReplyDelete
    32. LOL I can't believe you put MnMs on your registry! That's awesome lol!

      ReplyDelete
    33. Well, I know for sure I'd be allergic to running at 4:30am, not to mention sub-30 deg temps!

Good luck with the wedding planning. M&Ms and Reeses Pieces sound like a cute nickname for you two :-)

      ReplyDelete
    34. Nice job on the runs and good for you for getting the planning in ;-)

      ReplyDelete
    35. Ugh! Between the Challenge and my foot I haven't been running every day in a couple weeks, and that 4:30 wake up call STINKS! Easing back into it by going at 5:15 for a few days . . . Have fun wedding planning! Hooray for M&Ms!

      ReplyDelete
    36. Love the M+Ms on your wedding registry! I am on the same strength training regimen you are. Today was going to be my second day of the week but headed outside and didn't go to gym where I use the machines. Once a week is better than nothing.

      ReplyDelete
    37. Now those are my kind of wedding gifts - so much better than mixing bowls and toasters!

      ReplyDelete
    38. the m&m's on the registry thing is awesome, truly awesome. i know what to hold out in front of you when i see you durign the marathon now - in case you want to stop i'll just hold them out in front of you like a carrot - no running, no m&ms for you! (said like the soup nazi on seinfeld.)

just so you don't feel weird, i woke up aruond 6 this morning (saturday) and have been up ever since, but didn't run, since i have a race tomorrow.

4-5 months is more than enough time to plan a wedding, trust me!
