my two run run run

(you know, like biggie)

tuesday i got in a few miles over lunch and a speed workout (6x800) after work. i kept the lunch run easy because a) i needed to save my legs for the evening workout and b) i didn't want to cut my lunch break short in order to shower so i ran slow to prevent sweating. i did take a mexican shower with some body spray, just in case.

lunch run: 4.12 miles, 37:40 (avg pace 9:09), 72*
pm run: 7 miles w/ 6x800, 1:00:14 (avg pace 8:36), 63*

my main motivation for doing speed work was to hear garmin play the super mario song when i successfully completed the workout. my goal pace for the 800's was 3:30-3:40 and i am pleased to see that none of them were slower than that. i also did these on the streetz (of suburbia...) again so the terrain was rolling, but i thought i was "finding" the pace better than last time. as i ran, i pondered about the benefits of doing intervals on the track as well as the road. sometimes it's nice to see the finish line ahead, but training in race-like conditions is pretty beneficial too. avg pace for the 800's - 7:09 (last time - 7:17).

learned some horrible news on tuesday as well. i'm off to stock up before world war 3 breaks out.

  3. Impressive running Lindsay! Yesterday I aspired to do a double but then decided to drink margaritas and eat Mexican instead of going back to the gym. Whoops...

  4. Okay, I'm really sorry, but I died laughing about your lunch time shower!
Great speedwork....it makes sense to do some on the roads if we are racing on the roads...right?

  7. Man, I thought you were referencing the Crytals' Da Do Ron Ron Ron. Guess I'm dating myself a bit. I had NOTHING to do with the chocoloate shortage! (Okay, maybe a little bit.)

  10. Awesome workout! (Also, I'm impressed by your ability to not sweat much over that four mile lunch run. Jeesh. Even if I walked -- STROLLED four miles I'd be sweating in 72*F. Ugh!)

  11. Great job on the 2 a day!
And yes, I heard that we will be running out of bananas in a few years, too, something about a disease. Not sure which would be worse, not eating bananas or chocolate???

  12. I will have to give in a call to my buddy and long time friend, Willie Wonka, to see if he has a fix for this problem. As I live by Hershey, I have not heard anything about the 20 year shortage here. I will give back the everlasting gobstopper now. lol. Now I just had to click biggie and mexican shower. Thanks lot as I will now have that song in my head. and I think I might take a mexican shower after my marathon on Sunday. hehehe, then go shopping around. Way to go on those 800s. I won't be doing any of those any time soon. Maybe Spring after March of next year. My goal now is just finishing in one piece. Well now, you take care and save the choc time for every one else in the World!

  15. Sometimes it is hard to get a motivation to do something. SuperMario is a great idea!

  16. That is awful news about chocolate!! Oh no!! I'm going to have to start stocking up as well.

FYI - Mexicans call those showers "Russian Showers"...bwahahahaha...seriously though, they do.

  17. With me giving up chocolate, that should help the overall stock for at least a year or two!
Nice job-2 runs! I hope you didn't use the urinal mint for the mexican shower!

  18. You need to give a warning before you post such a sad, sad link. I think I may have audibly sobbed....

    =)

  19. Nice job on the double! I've started doing intervals on the road/path instead of the track, and sometimes it makes them easier :>

  20. I heard that about the chocolate! I don't even want to know more than the headline because I'd rather just remain in denial.

Awesome job on the speed workout and the two runs! You are such an inspiration :) I also love that super mario song. So satisfying.

  21. Are you stocking up on M+Ms? I hadn't heard that. How long does chocolate keep?

  22. Haha... I love the Garmin Super Mario Song too!!

Great job on the runs! Your time is really coming down.

  23. ok that is really scary news. I will have no reason to run, ha ha.

I ran 7 X 800s on the road today. I typically go to the track if someone will join me, but if solo I run them on the road. It kind of breaks it up to do them in different locations.

Nice workouts! Now I need to go for a run to alleviate the stress of the chocolate thing. Brutal!

  24. Wow! Nice going on the speedwork!

Ouch! No chocolate? I better start eating every piece of chocolate in sight for the next 20 years!

  25. I wish i could run 1 mile and not sweat! You go girl. I confess sometimes I do "american" showers and spray my clothes if I cant wash the. Sorry if you work with me and I stink.... :)

    Two runs! you crazy! :)

  26. Look at you with the double! Someone is making her comeback! w00t!

  27. Mexican shower! Ha ha!! I am going to have to use that one! Nice workouts! Got 800's on the docket for tomorrow morning and I haven't done them in over 5 months. Not really looking forward to them and likely won't help that I'm on my second glass of wine right now....perhaps I should just go dig some dark chocolate out of the Halloween bowl too. Antioxidants are good right....

  28. Mexican shower! Love it!

This chocolate thing has me worried, that is 50% of my diet!

  29. Dude, my Garmin doesn't play the Super Mario song. How do I get it to play the super Mario song? Have I been missing out all this time? How fast would I be now if I knew my Garmin played the Super Mario Song!?!?!?!?

  30. Two-a-days are great. Of course with weather like that you SHOULD be out there. Nice total distance.
As for the choco sitch, my Hershey-born coworker notified me of the crisis. I figure it would be a less painful way to permanently end M&M and related addictions.

  31. Um, your garmin plays that song? Huh? Is that the virtual partner that does that? Because I've had that thing turned off since I got that watch, it annoyed the crap out of me.

nice job on the two-a-day lady!!
