[minus the dashing.] today's long run was scratched due to yet another snow dump. it was 18*/feels like 4* and while i've ran in colder temps before, it seemed worse today. the constant wind/snow pelting me in the face did not help. the roads were also not yet plowed, so at times i was trudging through drifts of snow about a foot deep. my feet were soaked in the first mile from sinking into the snow, lovely. although i had some oatmeal pre-run, i felt out-of-sorts near the end of the run. i kinda couldn't focus/see straight and felt weak, hard to describe, but i think it was mostly from the cold. anyway, i stuck it out for a slow 10.3 miles and am hoping to get in my true long run tomorrow down in s.carolina. i hear they got/are getting some ice though, blech. i need to move to the caribbean.
trying to capture the depth of what i "ran" in.
post-run snow angel
now you can tell your kids you ran ten miles in the snow, uphill both ways, etc :D stay warm!
ReplyDelete-beth
holy crap girl. And I complain when the temps dip below 50 here. Yikes...at least you got some miles in though. Treat yourself to some warm M&M's - you've earned 'em.
ReplyDeletenothing like a snow angel as a reward! Glad you stuck it out.
ReplyDeleteAll of a sudden my squishy toes don't feel so bad. It even *lloks* frigid - I don't think I've seen snow that dry in a while. Yikes! Although that is a *very cool* snow angel.
ReplyDeleteMy kids had trouble with the green food group. They tried to pull the M&M thing on me. It was the only green they said they weren't allergic to.
Is there a reason that the word "suction" is appearing as the word verification to this post?
Wow, and I thought that runn in the freezing cold today was bad, I didn't have to deal with any snow like you did.
ReplyDeleteHopefully tomorrow will be better for you...just think, only 50 days until spring!
Great job! A true hardcore run!! I am so jealous....
ReplyDeleteok, i'm sitting in the airport right now, catching up on a few blogs, leaving the sunshine to head back to the snow :( Kudos to you for getting it done though!!
ReplyDeleteRunning in deep snow is rough....and then you pull off a (what you call a short run!)run of 10.3 miles!
ReplyDeleteNice job!!!
Love winter running!
Did 6.5 this morning with just a few flakes floating around!
I would have thought that your snow angel would have had a nice M&M necklace!!!
Ahaha, love your snow angel! Did you make it on the driveway?? Looks black under the snow. Too funny.
ReplyDeleteWay to slog through the 10... that's a lotta snow! It's freezing around here lately but no snow on the ground right now.
Is that middle picture a chimney....that's deep deep snow!
ReplyDeleteRunning in the snow is fun, but not for 20 miles! Hope SC weather treats you well!
ReplyDeleteLove the snow pictures! We only got a dusting over here!
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't envy that run one bit! BRRRRRRRR! But I do love the post run snow angel. Now that is something I've never done! Fun! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the (more than) 10 miles! Running in that much snow and in the cold is so tough. I love the snow angel!
ReplyDeleteLove the post run snow angel! Shows you still had some fight left in you after that tedious run. And a sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteSo when you cancel a run, you make snow angels?! How fun! Come visit us here and run, it's cheaper than the Caribbean!
ReplyDeletewhat a fantastic run for the weather!! My mom sent me pics from the 7" they got in nashville and NO ONE was out in the snow!! So kudos for you getting out and running and doing snow angels!!
ReplyDeleteRunning in the snow requires a whole bunch of extra effort - 10.3 in the snow is quite a feat. The snow angel? Not sure I'd be doing that right after I ran for fear I'd never get back up.
ReplyDeleteAs I type this, I am gearing up for a run in 18degrees (weather.com says it feels like 6) and I am super nervous. I am hoping for seriously low winds!!! This snow MUST. STOP. NOW!
ReplyDeleteTwo words: tread mill.
ReplyDeleteThat does not look like fun. If you move to the Carribbean can I come visit? Like every weekend? KThanks.
ReplyDeleteBTW - you are the big winner of my contest! Woot! Email me your address please.
I can't believe you ran 10 miles in that snow. You should be proud of yourself!
ReplyDeleteWell done
ReplyDeleteBut how cool is a post-run snow angel?!
ReplyDeleteGood job at least getting 10 miles in in the snow. I am glad that we missed out on the snow and ice this weekend in georgia
ReplyDeleteI'm convinced, you are some kind of running super hero. GOOD JOB!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I go to Big Bear on a weekend, I think about how nice it'd be to live up in the mountains where it snows all the time, so I could snowboard all the time! But I'm sure anybody who does live where it snows would tell me it's no picnic. I understand why too: wind, icy roads, not to mention super freezing cold runs.
ReplyDeleteI'll stick to running by the beach everyday, thanks! :)
Woman, you are insaneeee! But I will admit that snow angels are fun :)
ReplyDeleteThis post would make a great ad for an indoor marathon :-)
ReplyDeleteWay to plough through your run. You definitely deserve M&Ms after that one!
hehe I love the snow angel!
