this song caters to my slightly ghetto side that i still haven't outgrown. i was jammin' out to it at work today while i had the pleasure of putting together a very exciting spreadsheet about each and every part of an induced draft fan. seriously, down to the washers. snooze.
anyway, it helped pump me up for a run today. i also took tom's advice from yesterday and just ran, ignoring my gadgets. i still wore my hrm and nike+ so that i could put the data on my spreadsheet. i'm a dork, i know. running spreadsheet = good; snoozelicious id fan spreadsheet = boring. (i taped my + back together for now, believe it or not there are no sporting goods store around. shocking i know.)
when i plugged in my data i was pleasantly surprised with a better-than-easy-pace easy run. i guess i have been focusing a little too much on my time/pace/hr lately and needed a good chill-out run. thanks for all the supportive comments yesterday!
tuesday (6/9) pm run: 7.2 miles, 1:01:49 (avg pace 8:35), avg hr (166), 88*
yep - 88 degrees, solid easy run, hr within the zone. by george i think i've acclimated.
awesome girl! sometimes its exhausting just trying to keep on pace all the time. its great to just get out there and run :)

ReplyDeleteAlright, good run! Sometimes it's nice to run without worrying about pace/time allll the time. It takes far less effort to just RUN. That said, I would do the same thing and still wear my gadgets JUST to see what I did afterwards :-P

ReplyDeleteYay Lindsay! It sounds like an unplugged run was just what the doctor ordered. And glad that a little tape was able to work for the Nike+ too. I'm with you...even if I don't want to look at the gadgets, I want to know I'll have the data afterward too! I'm such a nerd...

ReplyDeleteGreat run. You and I are a lot alike. Sometimes I get wrapped up in the numbers and stats, and not in the purpose of what I'm trying to accomplish.
And yes - if you ever figure out how to turn a 20 miler into a walk in the park - pass some of that my way!

ReplyDeleteVery nice, Lindsay! I had a similar experience where I was out of town and forgot my Garmin at home. I ran for time and enjoyed it much more than I would have had I taken my Garmin with. It's nice to take it easy sometimes, only to realize how much faster the "easy pace" has become! Ana-Maria
ReplyDeleteAlas, I, too, sometimes pay attention to the gadgets too much. I guess I suppose they're supposed to HELP, not IMPEDE, my running. I'm glad you found your mojo. (And yes, I would still have worn my Garmin too and forced it not to show pace or something. Still a # person.)

i'm glad you had a good run! i sometimes have aron's phrase " happy pace" in my mind and just try to let myself go and run. i find myself going faster than i think :)
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, see you're smoking that pace at 88 degrees. Think about how fast you're going to be in cooler weather...like say New York in November.
