oh sunshine, where art thou

treadmill old friend, i know i have forsaken you for the great outdoors - fresh air, sunshine, a change of scenery and terrain, but can't we just get along? i've given you 27.35 miles over the past 4 days. why do you feel the need to try and throw me off the backend? four times no less? come on now, i'm not the laminator. although i'm only using you when it's convenient for me (/the weather is bad), surely we can make this relationship work.

monday (6/15) pm run: 8 miles, 1:06:19 (avg pace 8:17), avg hr (167)
tuesday (6/16) pm run: 7.2 miles, 1:03:53 (avg pace 8:52), avg hr (160)
wednesday (6/17) am run: 4.15 miles, 36:19 (avg pace 8:45)

thanks to conveniently timed thunderstorms everyday at 5pm, i've been trapped on the treadmill the past few days. on monday and tuesday i got in some sort of 'zone' and felt my feet rolling off the back end of the strip (3 times monday, once tuesday). i lurched forward each time and grabbed the handle/rail-things to keep from being tossed off.

hoping, wishing and praying for no thunder or lightning tomorrow. i can do rain, but i don't really want to be struck by lightning.

makes me laugh every time haha

seriously though, the same thing happens to me on treadmills and i end up running way up close to the front because i'm so scared of falling off the back! that's just awkward. hopefully you'll have some sunny skies soon so you don't have to worry about the treadmill :)

  2. The weather has been horrible here to. Once at the gym a guy in front me on the treadmill was running with his wife. He checked out a cute girl walking by lost his footing slammed his face into the screen of the treadmill and shot off the thing. His wife's response was simply, " Good you deserve that."

  3. AWESOME video! "Girl gets destroyed by treadmill" is also an apt description of what happens every time I attempt a speed workout on one, so I could relate.

  4. I am such a klutz on a treadmill too. My problem is once the TV on the treadmill turns on, I lose what little coordination I normally have!

Then, I'm also probably hilarious to watch when I try to slow the damn thing down. I just can't seem to hit buttons while trying to keep from falling over or being whisked off the back!

  5. That's why I don't do treadmills! Weather stinks here also. Pouring outside as I type this. In response to your asking me to update my progress on my team Autism Speaks fundraising, I have cash and checks that I need to mail to them. Unfortunately it doesn't get updated unless someone donates online, or I mail them my cash and checks.

  6. Yeah, I only turn to the treadmill when the weather is really dangerous. Stupid lightning.

  7. I've had it with this rain too!

That's some dedication...to be able to churn out such crazy mileage on a treadmill. Hope you stay on!

  9. Lol!! I love that video. When I played softball, we were doing a sprint workout on the TM where you jump on while it's rolling at 10+ mph and run. Well, I didn't have good balance the first time I did it, fell and was sent flying. Haha. what was even better is the football team was lifting at the same time. Yeah guys, I'm cool. Ha!

  10. The video is hilarious! I'd run in the rain if I could! I'm kind of starting to miss it a little.
Hang in there, weather is always changing!

  11. I can't do treadmills. Just can't.
We've been getting rain like crazy, too. Today I wore my compression swim tights and swimming long sleeve shirt, my cap, and had an amazing run! Good job sticking to the runs, though. I would have just given up..

  12. I hate running on the treadmill, but at least you aren't using the rain as an excuse to skip a run. Have a great weekend.

  17. I hear ya! I hate the lightning. I can deal with the sloshing shoes, but lightning is nothing to mess with.

  18. AWESOME. Sad thing is . . . I've looked almost that stupid at the hands of the 'mill before!

Fingers crossed for some better weather for you (and us too! I am SO sick of rain!!!)

    Have a great weekend! :)

  19. Slow the mill down, girl! No flying off allowed.

It's been rainy around these parts too, but I love it :)

  20. That's funny, when I used to run in the gym, I used to get in that 'zone' thing too and almost slip off the treadmill. Glad I haven't had to run on that recently. Does it always rain this much during this time of the year? It's ruining quality runs for you!

  21. yikes, it sounds like the treadmill may be out to get you. fickle, fickle treadmills. keep an eye on that thing! on the other hand, 28 treadmill miles is amazing. i don't know how you overcome the boredom.

hope the weather sorted itself out and you got a chance to get outdoors :)

  22. Random question: How do you put videos on your blog?? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. HAHAHA. That video is hilarious. Can you imagine seeing someone actually do that in a gym??

  24. Ouch! The reason I don't do treadmills... But at least you're running! Fingers crossed for blue skies!

  25. Yikes! I've been fortunate not to fall off the end but have jumped onto the sides many times while doing intervals and having to slow down quick after going pretty fast. I'm sure one of these days I'll miss ...
