moonin' my honey: paradise

i'm (still) waiting on our pro pics to come in so i can include some in the wedding recap. since i'm (still) not running, we'll just skip ahead to the honeymoon pics for now.

saturday was a late night because i even though i didn't run all week before the wedding, i managed to procrastinate and not pack for the trip. we got home from the wedding around 11pm, and while i was exhausted i knew i had to stay awake long enough to pack. not fun, and i definitely forgot a few things. we took off sunday morning (10am) from the east coast and traveled all day.

on our layover in lax we saw this couple wearing "just married" t-shirts.
seriously? laaame.

the airplane food reminded me of delivering "meals on wheels" to the elderly. yum.

we landed in tahiti around 9:30pm (3:30am back home) and took a cab to the sofitel hotel for the night.

moorea (our destination) in the distance

on monday we caught high speed catamaran to moorea around noon. ate a late lunch at the rotui grill, one of the hotel bars/restaurants. hung out in our overwater bungalow for the afternoon, enjoying the view. the hotel surprised us with chardonnay and fresh coconut in celebration of our honeymoon. i realized it was "winter" there when the sun set at 6pm. i could actually enjoy a winter with temps around 72-85, low humidity and a breeze...

tuesday was a fairly active day around the resort. ate breakfast at arii vahine (another hotel restaurant, we ate there every morning out of convenience and the fact that there wasn't really anywhere else to go for breakfast nearby). went kayaking around opunohu bay. attempted to play tennis but i was hot, lifted some weights instead. we made hiking reservations for wednesday, and josh snorkeled while i laid out. learned the word “ia orana” (means hello, pronounced like yo-rana, roll the "r" like in spanish). ate dinner at rotui grill; tried to get crepes at toatea bar but had some language barrier issues and everyone was confused.

[i'm afraid of sending the internet/blogger/your computers into overload with a mile long post of pictures, so i'm splitting this up. next up: hiking in paradise!]

  4. First off, the hut looks incredible...

Secondly, I wonder if triathletes would wear the life preservers or pack wetsuits for buoyancy?

  29. The airline food is all in one color theme... Vomit! But I must say, I don't feel sorry for you. Not one bit! Because your destination more than made up for the long flight, layover at LAX (!!!) and vomit colored meal. WOW!!!
Of course if it had been me in the hut my first priority would have been to find the closest and safest running trail. Not to make you feel guilty or anything :O)
