in case you didn't already notice, i was never one of those "omgggg i'm getting married" kind of girls. i'm also quite awkward and don't crave the spotlight, which kept the excitement levels lower than "normal". however, i was looking forward to seeing friends/family and
friday (7/16) was rehearsal of course. i skipped the mani/pedi crap 'cause i am notorious for chipping a nail within 10-minutes and i was wearing nike's anyway. i think i just relaxed at home that morning, tidying up the house and otherwise being lazy. one of my sisters came over to clean the house for me (with my recent health issues i know my family was trying to go above and beyond to make things easier for me). another sister, josh's brother, and my moh jess came over as well to hang out/carpool to the venue. as we hung out at my house, the thunder started rolling and then it poured when it was time to leave for rehearsal. i was soaked to the bone in the 5 seconds it took to run from the front porch to the car.
we showed up late (of course) and still soaked, but at least the rain had stopped. we briefly discussed the weather contingency plan, and then rehearsed what we hoped would be the real-deal. i didn’t know what to do, being the center of attention, so i nervously waved my rehearsal bouquet around and hit josh in the face with it. other than that, it went well, and josh and i were both grateful that our day-of-coordinator (kristen) was not shy about being firm when she needed to.
josh's groom's cake
it got a little knocked around in-transit, hence the smudged pinstripes

looking forward to hearing more as well. I always enjoy hearing about weddings of people who are somewhat same as in the their attitude toward the whole thing!
ReplyDeletei love your laidback attitude about this. i was just thinking to myself the other day... what does marriage really mean (nowadays in general... and to me specifically). and i was thinking... if i got married TODAY nothing would really change. just my official status. but it's just something we do... the actual official committment is super exciting. and then i guess the wedding/ceremony/celebration is whatever you make it- and what attitude you bring to it. i just want mine to be simple + easy for everyone involved. i'll prolly still get a pedi ;) hehe. loooove pedicures :) i'll take any excuse.
ReplyDeleteOf COURSE you are sticking your tongue out - LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks for indulging me (us). I love hearing about weddings and seeing pictures.
Hahaha, the more I read from you, the more I suspect you might be some kind of long-lost cool older sister. Only a runner would make allusions to a wedding recap being like a race report...
ReplyDeleteI love that you are so laid back about it! Boo to Bridezillas!
ReplyDeleteYeah for being a relaxed bride!
ReplyDeleteYAY i am glad you are recapping it all because obviously i am one of those omgggggg you are getting married girls :) lol. cant wait for the rest!
ReplyDeleteDang, I missed one day and I had to make up on two posts. I want to comment on yesterdays post but I'm going to do it here. Thought the shoes were great. Also, your monthly miles look like mine; easily what a week should be.
ReplyDeleteI like your casual attitude. My wife was the same way, made things easy.
AND THEN!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's it??!!! Crap, I cracked open a brand new dt dew figuring this would be a while to read and I got two sips of my soda down!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read the rest of the weekend "report"!!!!
Cute cake! I like being the center of attention and still felt awkward at rehearsals, showers, etc. It's just a weird thing. :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and continued congratulations! I love those sneakers, and even though I'm not much of a wedding person, I do love pictures and weddings of people I like. Internet friends included, obviously :)
ReplyDeleteI was soooo not relaxed about my wedding day. Type A+! Maybe if I'd been running back then I'd have been more laid back. Or not.
ReplyDeletePart 1 wedding report - Love it!
ReplyDeleteRunning during my annual off cycle – None. Not one mile. I did go for a few bike rides (30-50 miles), and a little swimming to burn off the extra energy, but no running. The first couple of weeks back running is hard, and I go out for easy runs (5-7 miles / 4-5 times a week) to establish a small base again, but then my body remembers what to do, starts to feel fresh & strong, and is hungry for more. My heart rate is higher then normal for the distance and time compared to before, which reminds me my cardio is not what it was before (and it’s hot and humid), but I don’t worry too much because it comes back fast.
A couple of weeks off will do you more good then harm (physically, emotionally, and to guard against burn-out). And the race in November will not be a problem – You have plenty of time to get ready. The only thing I would do different compared to a marathon training plan is extend your long run distance a few more miles at a slower pace. Long runs don’t teach your body to run fast, but it does enable your body to transform the fat energy into fuel for your muscle if you keep your HR out of the higher range. Endurance is slow to build, and slow to lose. I have tons of info I have taught myself (trial and error), and through others.
Which race are you running in Nov, and is it on trails or road?
More! More! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the wonderful moments, the Days of your Life. As long as you are not Young and Restless. lol. I think I have to puke now. Weddings make me want to hurl, sorry. I guess being a GUY, I don't understand all the money going into just one freaking day of all that. lol. well, it's for the ladies so that's cool. You look very happy, that makes me glad. You take care and be good. Running or not Running, just chill.
ReplyDeleteI love that you were so laid back about your wedding. I always say, when it comes time for me to get married, someone will have to do all the work...I have no desire to plan a wedding, go shopping, look for a dress or pick out flowers! And I Love love love that you wore Nikes!!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish everyone had this attitude: "i was never one of those "omgggg i'm getting married" kind of girls." The wedding is one (really fun!) day that people get carried away with; the marriage is the thing to be excited about.Congrats on the latter!
ReplyDeleteI love your perspective! I think it's a great idea to recap your wedding here. You'll have the record of the events and our input.:) Hope you're enjoying being a newlywed!
ReplyDeletethat was such a tease...more of the story please!! :)
ReplyDeleteWay to leave everyone hanging. We'll be patiently waiting! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the cake :). I'm the same way about planning my wedding. I'm super lazy with it and I secretly wish my fiance would just agree to elope (Eloping was my idea- a wedding was his. Ironic, huh?).
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read more about your wedding... and I love the tongue out picture :).
Amy Lauren
MORE MORE MORE!!!!! MORE MORE MORE!!!! PLEASE please please!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe were for the most part all about the laid back.. we saw eachother b4 the wedding, held the reception 10 feet away from the area we were "married" its so great when you make it easy...
ReplyDeleteIt really makes for fun memories for both you and your guests.. Its 2 years later and people still say they had fun :) Thanks to our talented friends and family we had a comedy show, a candy "bar" a "cake table" and a total highschool photo sheet set up for guests to take silly pics.. Easy breezy Beautiful covergiiiiirl :)
Thanks for the pics! I can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteHey, I enjoy your race reports! Why not use if for your wedding?
ReplyDeleteI could give you a race-style comment...like..."Way to get him in the head with the flowers, and I knew a little rain wouldn't slow you down...You can do it!
Can't wait for the next installment.
Oh, how could I forget the all-important race-style comment..."It must have been the shoes!"
Love the sticking out the tongue shot. Adorable.
ReplyDeleteThis post is a bit of a tease though. At least that is what I said about it on the bathroom wall at school. :P
It's good to recap this type of thing! I tried to comment last night on your honeymoon post, not sure if it went through or not. But you did look beautiful on your big day, and I'm so glad the weather cooperated for you and everyone.
